Construction of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway will be completed by June 2028. This second elevated expressway in Dhaka is being constructed at the cost of around TK 16,000 crore.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this while inaugurating the pilot piling of static load test of the expressway at Dhur area under Turag police station on Saturday (September 25) at 11 am.
He said the loan agreement for the project would be completed within the next two weeks. We have no problem with funding—also, the road that currently exists, no matter how it exists. Many people use it as an alternative path. We have to take care that people do not suffer here. Make the road usable.
Addressing the officials involved in the project, Quader said, “I want to make it clear that the construction work of all the projects will be completed with 100% transparency.” There is no chance to do anything here.
It is learned that the total cost of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project is Tk 18,901 crore. The Bangladesh government will give Tk 5,951 crore, and the Chinese government (GTZ) will provide Tk 10,949 crore.
The length of the four-lane expressway will be 24 km. Airport-Abdullahpur-Dhur-Bara Ashulia-Jirabo-Bypass will be extended to Dhaka EPZ. Along with this, the ramp will be 10.64 km, 1.915 km in Nabinagar, 2.72 km four-lane bridge, and 18 km drain. The contractor for the project is China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation.
