The 2021-22 season of Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) has started today (Tuesday). Abahani Limited and Rupganj Tigers were played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Before the match, the league was officially inaugurated by blowing balloons.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CCDM chairman Salauddin Ahmed and title sponsor Walton’s additional operative director Milton Ahmed officially inaugurated the game in Mirpur. Abahani Limited captain Mosaddek Hossain and Rupganj Tigers captain Marshal Ayub were also present.
Apart from Abahani-Rupganj in Mirpur on the league’s opening day, Prime Bank Cricket Club and City Club and Gazi Group Cricketers and Legends of Rupganj also fought at two BKSP grounds at the same time.
Mirpur Champion Abahani Limited lost the toss on the first day’s play and elected to bat against newcomer Rupganj Tigers Cricket Limited. Prime Bank Cricket Club is batting after losing the toss at BKSP’s No. 3 ground against City Club, which has emerged in the Premier League after 13 long years. Gazi Group cricketers are batting against Legends of Rupganj on the 4th field next door.
