Necessary steps will be taken to maintain peace in the Chittagong Hill Tracts

Necessary steps will be taken to maintain peace and law and order in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the forces required for peace in the hills will be deployed, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

He said more police including RAB would be deployed to restore peace in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The Home Minister told reporters after a special meeting on law and order in the three hill districts at the Rangamati Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room on Wednesday night.

Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Bir Bahadur Ishai Singh, Chairman of CHT Regional Council Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma (Santu Larma), Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food Ministry Dipankar Talukder, Member of Parliament for Khagrachhari District Kujendra Lal Tripura, Member of Parliament for reserved seats. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Benazir Ahmed, RAB Director General Abdullah Mamun, DGFI Chief Major General Ahmed Tabrez Shams Chowdhury, three Hill District Council chairmen and deputy commissioners and other senior officials of the administration were present.

In the special meeting on law and order in the three hill districts, important decisions have been taken on various issues including law and order in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
