And this is the conviction of Victory Day. Hasan Mahmud said, “Today, everyone from the World Bank to the President of the United States and the Secretary General of the United Nations is appreciating the development progress of Bangladesh. But while the country is moving forward, even after five decades of independence, the anti-independence forces are plotting against the country. They are giving wrong information about the country to foreigners and are involved in conspiracies at home and abroad. Broadcasting Minister paid tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War. He said, on this day in 1971, under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, our predecessor freedom fighters won the victory against the Pakistani army in exchange for the blood of 3 million martyrs, in exchange for the honor of 200,000 mothers and sisters and by breaking many international conspiracies. Hasan Mahmud said, ‘Bangabandhu led our freedom struggle, but he could not realize those dreams because he was killed on August 15, 1975. Under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter, Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has made incredible progress in the last 14 years on the way to fulfilling Bangabandhu’s dream. We have evolved into a middle-income, self-sufficient country in food.”
