I am not qualified to be president: Obaidul Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader have commented that he does not have the qualifications to be the president of the country. He said these things while talking to reporters in the meeting room of the ministry in the secretariat on Thursday. The current president. Abdul Hamid was first sworn in as the country’s 20th president on April 24, 2013. He was elected as the 21st President unopposed on February 7, 2018, after completing a five-year term. According to the Constitution, there is no possibility of a third term for the President. So, there is a discussion about who will be the new president. Obaidul Quader spoke about the matter in such a context today. He said, “I do not have the qualifications to sit in that position. The party has President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. he is thinking of Inquiring, he may have someone on his mind. Obaidul Quader said about the simultaneous movement with like-minded political parties of BNP, “They say 10 points once, and they say one point again.” Then I saw 23 teams, and again 54 teams. Now I heard that 52 groups will hold a program together on January 16. Far left, far right together. Where is the end of their unity in this mess? Obaidul Quader said about BNP’s mass-arrangement program held on Wednesday yesterday, “I saw the BNP’s rally, it has grown, there is no use in denying it.” Both of our meetings have been great. They have so many alliances, in front of the press club, in Vijayanagar, I saw 12 like-minded groups sitting on the pavement. I saw in front of the press club, a few chairs, there are more journalists than their staff. Time will tell how durable this meaningless unity is. Before the last election, there were 21 parties, during the election, everything went from side to side, and there was no appearance of unity. Awami League general secretary said, “We will not leave the streets. Awami League is in power, we have nothing to protest. I will hold a peace rally. I will march for peace. The safety of people’s lives is our responsibility. We will be on alert. Questioning the leadership of BNP, Obaidul Quader said, “They have no leader.” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lead us in the next elections. Who are they? Sometimes they say Begum Zia, and sometimes they say Tariq Rahman is their leader. But they are not eligible to be elected. They are the accused. Kamal Hossain was last time. Later, his reputation was also damaged. In the end, he (Kamal) too was disappointed. But what will happen this time, time will tell. Stating that there was no agreement with Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Obaidul Quader said, “The issue of banning Jamaat is under trial in the court. Waiting for the court verdict. We feel that it is not reasonable to take any other initiative. Obaidul Quader said about Jamaat’s position in the simultaneous movement led by BNP, it is difficult for BNP to survive without Jamaat. Jamaat needs Jamaat to hold big rallies and marches where BNP has reached in doing negative politics. Jamaat has a supporter-activist bank. So, if you want to make the rally bigger, if you want to bring more people to the procession, BNP will not work without Jamaat. Referring to BNP-Jamaat as the two sides of the same coin, Obaidul Quader said, “We have repeatedly said the same thing, BNP is the sponsor of communal power.” BNP is the trusted address of militant groups. BNP-Jamaat is two sides of the same coin. One of them will not work without the other.
