Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mojammel Haque has said that from next July, every heroic freedom fighter will be given an honorarium of Tk 20,000.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Dhaka District Muktijoddha Complex building in the capital today. The complex was constructed at a cost of Taka 3 crore 6 lakh under the District Muktijoddha Complex construction project of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
Highlighting the various plans of the government for the welfare of the heroic freedom fighters, the minister said the construction work of 30,000 Bir nibas for the heroic freedom fighters is starting in a few days. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved a project to build 30,000 Bir nibas for the heroic freedom fighters. At first it was 14,000 but later the Prime Minister increased it to 30,000.
He said, free medical treatment has been provided to the heroic freedom fighters. Funds have already been allocated for various specialized hospitals and district and Upazila health centers. Besides, work is underway to make the graves of all the heroic freedom fighters in the same design all over the country.
The Minister called upon the new generation to be inspired by the spirit of the war of liberation and devote themselves to building the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu’s dream.
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam presided over the function. Among others, Shahjahan Khan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Benazir Ahmed, Member of Parliament for Dhaka-20 constituency, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce, Khwaja Mia, Secretary to the Ministry of Liberation War. Heroic freedom fighters of Dhaka district including Maruf Hossain Sardar were present.
