Shanto says defeat of Pakistan ‘one of the best moments of Bangladesh cricket’

The ball hits the boundary off the bat of Shakib Al Hasan. Immediately, the TV camera went to Bangladesh’s dressing room.

Everyone’s excitement was evident. They are hugging each other in joy.

Such joy shows how big the achievement is for Bangladesh. Before this series, Bangladesh could never beat Pakistan in a Test, now there is a memory of winning the series. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto expressed his feelings after losing their series in Rawalpindi.

In the press conference, he said, ‘It will be difficult to express the emotion. Because this kind of achievement is one of the best moments of Bangladesh cricket for me personally.

“When Shakib bhai, Mushfiq bhai were batting, we all wanted from the dressing room that both of them finish the match. They have been playing for Bangladesh for so many years. How many matches have you won? But winning a match like this is very special. We all wanted that. We are all very happy. ‘

Bangladesh once fell on the edge of the abyss in the second Test. They lost 6 wickets for 26 runs. But Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Liton Das pulled the team from there, making a pair of record 165 runs. Shanto spoke about the importance of faith behind this.

He said, ‘I think faith is important. Every one of our cricketers believes we can bounce back at any time. As you know, Mirage bats at number 8. With the batting depth we have, we believe that if anyone can settle down, they will score big. It is very important for everyone to have this faith to turn around at any time. ‘

‘Even after losing 6 wickets for 26 runs, we kept faith. Before going to bat he (Miraj) said something that I and Liton will do the job for the team. They have done it before. But it is very commendable. The belief they had and the belief in the dressing room (that belief) this time, was very, very different. ‘
