The Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina informed the Jatiya Sangsad that Bangladesh will host a peace conference from November 4 to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remarks in a question and answer session scheduled for her in Parliament today in response to a question from ruling party MP Mozaffar Hossain. The Q&A session was raised on the table.
The Prime Minister said, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on organizing the two-day conference on November 4 and 5.
In this context, she said, “I believe that the two-day conference will spread the word about Bangabandhu’s outstanding contribution to the establishment of world peace and human welfare.”
The 42-member convening committee has already been formed to make the conference a success. Where the Speaker of Parliament, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury President and Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism Saima Wazed has been convened.
Multiple panel discussions will be held with the participation of dignitaries working in different parts of the world to establish peace and concerned government-private officials, academics, journalists and intellectuals will take part, she said.
She added that the conference would adopt the Dhaka Declaration of Peace as well as discuss Bangabandhu’s actions and ideals in establishing peace as the promoter of ‘World Peace and Humanity’.
The Prime Minister said, no definite decision has been taken yet on giving ‘Bangabandhu Peace Prize’ at the conference as it is still under consideration of the government.
