On Wednesday (July 7th) afternoon, the Italian flagship IMKE arrived at the port of Mongla with three mobile harbor cranes. The ship anchored at Jetty 9 of the port.
Tk 120 crore has been spent for this mobile harbor crane weighing 1332 metric tons according to port sources. With these cranes, the containers of 12-row ships coming to the port can be transported together.
The Harbor Master Commander of Mongla Port said that a foreign ship IMKE arrived at Mongla Port with a sophisticated mobile harbor crane in the afternoon. A month ago, the ship left the German port of Rock struck with a mobile crane for the port of Mongla. These cranes will be unloaded from the ship within five days. It will be connected to the port jetty by German engineers.
Rear Admiral, chairman of the Mongla Port Authority, said new equipment was being added to increase and modernize the port’s capacity. A project worth Tk 700 crore has been undertaken for the development of the port.
He added that foreigners are increasingly interested in using the port for various development activities. In the meantime, this port has become a profitable port. After overcoming all kinds of complications in the use of the port, the port is now completely turned around. Due to this, the revenue income of the port has increased.
