The second consignment of Oxford AstraZeneca, a gift from Japan, has reached Dhaka. At 3.15pm on Saturday (July 31), a cargo plane of All Nippon Airways carrying the vaccine landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The executive director of Shahjalal Airport confirmed the information.
He said a cargo plane of Nippon Airways landed at the airport at 3.15 pm after being vaccinated.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Health Minister Zahid Malek were among the senior health officials present at the reception.
The cargo plane of Nippon Airways left Narita International Airport at 11:40 pm local time in Japan on Friday night. Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin was present at the airport during the flight to Dhaka.
Another consignment of six lakh Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan is expected to arrive in Dhaka on August 3. Bangladesh is getting a total of 13 lakh vaccines in these two shipments.
In all, 3 million Japanese vaccines should be given to Bangladesh.
