Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that the incompetence or sabotage of the driver of the ferry will be investigated.
He said this while addressing a discussion meeting of the National Mourning Day organized by Awami Swechchhasebak League on Wednesday afternoon. The discussion was held at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in the capital.
Obaidul Quader said, ‘Why is the ferry colliding again and again? Not once, not twice, not four times. We Punished the driver for incompetence & dismissed him. It is necessary to check whether the driver is incompetent or not. Why will this happen again and again before the construction work is completed? We need to look into the matter. There was a conspiracy against this project, it is not over yet. ‘
He added that the construction of the Padma Bridge became uncertain when the World Bank withdrew its funding. Then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to build the Padma Bridge with national funding. Today the Padma Bridge is visible. I hope the vehicles will be operational by next June. Construction of all pillars has been completed. I am saying this because the ferry has hit the pillar of the bridge four times in the last one month.
Responding to a question from reporters, he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government is a political government. Politicians decide, bureaucrats implement it. The government is on the right track. All policies are determined by our Prime Minister. The government is not dependent on bureaucrats.
Awami League presidium member Abdur Rahman, joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Swachchasebak League general secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu, vice-president Gazi Mesbaul Hossain Sachu and Abdus Salam among others spoke at the discussion meeting chaired by Swachchasebak League president Nirmal Ranjan Guha.
Abdur Rahman said that the main objective of politics is to stand by the people during the Corona period. I will turn grief into strength and stand by people. If people get relief and peace, the soul of Bangabandhu and his family will also get peace.
AFM Bahauddin Nasim said that through August 15, they wanted to explain that they had been killed because of the excesses of a family. In fact, it was a blueprint for a conspiracy. They wanted to confuse people. Over time that truth has been revealed. Ziaur Rahman was the mastermind behind the assassination.
