Flights with India started from August 20

Bangladesh is going to start limited air communication with India from next Friday (August 20). The foreign minister made the remarks at a handover ceremony of 31 life support ambulances and medical supplies provided by the Indian government on Tuesday (August 17th).

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said, “Air communication with India has been launched since August 20 under Air Bubble. On an air bubble flight, passengers will board a direct flight from one destination to another. The flight will not land at any third airport.”

Earlier this month, Bangladesh’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) made a proposal to India to launch flights under the Air Bubble Agreement between the two countries.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) sources said the flight would be operated under an ‘air bubble’ agreement between the two neighboring countries. As a result, passengers from both the countries will not be able to go to any third country after landing in Bangladesh or India.
