Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that arrangements are being made to get more than one crore doses of vaccine every month. She said so far (August 30) 24 crore 54 lakh 52 thousand 700 doses of vaccine have been collected.

He made the remarks in Parliament on Wednesday (September 1) in response to a written question from ruling party MP Shahiduzzaman Sarkar (Naogaon-2). Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the meeting and presented the question-answer table.

The Prime Minister said so far 1,82,89,018 people have been vaccinated with the first dose and 78,40,169 people have been vaccinated with the second dose for the prevention of the epidemic coronavirus. The amount of vaccine stored till August 30 is 1 crore 18 lakh 96 thousand 343 doses. Coronavirus vaccine collection and free immunization activities are underway to prevent infection.

“We have contacted all the manufacturing companies in the world to collect the coronavirus vaccine,” PM said. Of these, only the best institutes in India have responded. An agreement was reached to collect three crore doses of vaccine with their advance money. There was no response from other manufacturers. Later, I took the initiative with the response from Sinopharm of China and Sputnik-V of Russia. These include agreements with Sinopharm and for local production.
