Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has left for Russia on a seven-day visit. During his stay in Russia, he will observe the country’s parliamentary elections.

The CEC left Dhaka for the country on Thursday (September 18) at 10:15 am on Emirates Airlines flight EK-583. The Chief Election Commissioner was accompanied by his Private Secretary Abul Kashem Mohammad Mazharul Islam. The concerned people of the Election Commission gave this information.

In the first by-elections in 1995, voting was done by this machine. This device was also used in the 1996 presidential election. Russia also used voting machines in the 2016 presidential election, but only at 9 per cent of polling stations. Bangladesh, however, plans to hold EVM voting in most of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to the EC, the CEC will observe the elections in Russia from September 17 to 19. After that, he will return to the country after completing other work. On August 19, the EC’s Deputy Secretary sent a letter to the Chief Accounts and Finance Officer regarding the CEC’s visit. Shah Alam. It is said that this is an official visit. At this time, they will get all the allowances in local currency. The Russian Election Commission will bear accommodation and local travel expenses. However, the plane fare will be borne by the Bangladesh Election Commission.
