Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said efforts were being made to inaugurate roads and railways on the Padma Bridge on the same day. The 182 km railway line of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project will run from Dhaka to Jessore.
He said this while briefing the journalists on the side of the rail link project at Mawa in Munshiganj yesterday afternoon.
Also present on occasion were Fazle Karim MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Railways, Saifuzzaman Shikhar MP, Nadira Yasmin Jolly MP, Major General Mohammad Zahid, Head of Rail Project Consulting, Mohammad Afzal Hossain, Project Director of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project.
Nurul Islam Sujan said the term of the Padma Bridge rail link project is till 2024. In the case of implementation of the project, work is going on by adopting the plan in 3 parts. From Bhanga to Mawa, 61 percent of the work has been completed. In the second part, from Dhaka to Mawa, 43 percent of the work has been completed. The progress of the work of 81 km from Bhanga to Jessore is 36 percent. The average improvement of the whole project is 46 percent. Earlier, the project stakeholders briefed the Minister about the project’s progress on a multi-media projector in the conference room of the side office of the Mawa Rail Link project.
Later, the Minister visited the area of the railway project at the Mawa end of Padma Bridge and inspected the project area till Bhanga.
