87 percent of work on the Padma Bridge has been completed. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam hopes to open it to traffic by June 30, 2022.
He made the remarks at a briefing at the secretariat on Monday (November 22) after the cabinet meeting.
According to the annual report on the activities of the ministries and departments for the fiscal year 2020-21, he said, “87 percent progress has been made on the Padma Bridge. Hopefully, it will be open for traffic on or around June 30. ‘
He said, “As a gift from the Prime Minister on the occasion of Mujib Year, houses have been constructed for 53,340 landless and homeless families.”
He also said that the draft of the President’s speech in the 15th session of the 11th National Assembly had been approved in the cabinet meeting. “This is a special speech,” said the cabinet secretary.
He will be speaking on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of independence. That has been approved by the cabinet today. The speech will be on the 24th.
