The Prime Minister is going to the Maldives today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay a six-day state visit to the Maldives on Wednesday (December 22) at the invitation of Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih.

According to the daily program received from the Press Wing of the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for Mal মাল, the capital of Maldives, on a particular flight at noon. Upon landing in Male, the country’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs will receive the Prime Minister at the airport.

On December 23, at 10:30 am, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih will formally welcome the Prime Minister. There, the Prime Minister will be given a guard of honour. After receiving the Guard of Honor, the Prime Minister will proceed to the Presidential Palace. A bilateral meeting between the President of Maldives and the Prime Minister will be held at this venue. At the end of the session, four MoUs will be signed between the two countries.

The Prime Minister will be received by the Vice President, Speaker and Chief Justice of the Maldives. The Prime Minister is also expected to address the Maldivian National Assembly during the visit. The Prime Minister will also exchange virtual greetings with expatriate Bangladeshis working in the Maldives. On the same night, the President of Maldives will attend a state dinner hosted in honour of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister will attend various programs on the third day of the visit, from Friday (December 24) to the fifth day on Sunday (December 26). The Prime Minister is scheduled to return home on the evening of December 27 (Monday).

Accompanying the Prime Minister are Foreign Minister Abdul Momen, Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Zahid Malek, Chief of Army Staff, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, Foreign Secretary and other appropriate officials of the Prime Minister’s Office and Secretary-level officials of other concerned ministries are expected to be present.
