Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina have asked the leaders of her party to strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming National Assembly elections and be vigilant against any kind of domestic and foreign conspiracies. He said, “Conspiracy is being carried out nationally and internationally. Many people don’t want a country to progress at such speed, so they are working against Bangladesh. The Prime Minister said this when the leaders and activists of the district branches of Awami League went to meet him at Ganobhaban on Wednesday. At this time, the Prime Minister promised to work to continue the development of the country by dealing with all conspiracies. The Prime Minister said that his government has been working for the welfare of the country and people for three consecutive terms since 2009. Due to the hard work of the Awami League government, the poverty rate has come down from 41 percent in 2006 to 18.7 percent in 2023 and the extreme poverty rate has come down from 25 percent to 5.6 percent. He said his government would speed up efforts to bring down the poverty rate by another 2 or 3 percent at the earliest. Sheikh Hasina said, there will be no extreme poverty in Bangladesh. He also said that his government is doing everything including providing free houses, bringing healthcare services to people’s doorsteps, and increasing the education rate to change the condition of the countrymen. Pointing out that the national elections are knocking at the door, Sheikh Hasina urged the leaders and workers of the party to strengthen the Awami League and work more collectively for the welfare of the people. He said, ‘We want the organization of Awami League to be stronger. The prime minister severely criticized the BNP leaders and their like-minded people saying that even though the people of the southwestern region are getting the benefits of the Padma bridge, they are not seeing the massive development of Bangladesh. He said, ‘They are not seeing any development. They are lying loudly every day even during Ramadan. I don’t understand why they are doing this. The Awami League president said that his government has worked for the people, and that is why the people voted for his party. Awami League does not need any vote rigging to come to power, because they always serve the people and come to power by winning their trust. Awami League never comes to power without votes. Referring to the 2008 national elections, he said that no one raised questions about the 2008 elections, BNP won 29 seats in that election. Sheikh Hasina also said that BNP is still steadfast in its previous position. But by working for the development of the country and the people, Awami League has taken its position further.
