EC is monitoring Khulna-Barisal polls on CC cameras

Khulna and Barisal City Corporation elections are being monitored by the Election Commission (EC) from the election building in Dhaka.

Voting began at 8 am on Monday (June 12) at 415 polling stations in the two cities, which will continue till 4 pm.

CC cameras have been installed in every polling station in every centre.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal, Election Commissioner Ahsan Habib Khan, Begum Rasheda Sultana and Md. Alamgir is monitoring the CCTV cameras installed in the election building from the control room.

Before this, the Awal Commission observed the election of Rangpur City Corporation, Comilla City Corporation, Jhenaidah Municipality, Gaibandha 5 sub-election, Gazipur City Corporation election, observation of CC camera and polling.

In Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election, Talukdar Abdul Khalek of Bangladesh Awami League in boat symbol, Shafiqul Islam of Jatiya Party (Japa) in honey plow symbol, Islami Andolan Bangladesh. Abdul Awal is contesting on hand fan symbol and Zaker Party’s SM Sabbir Hossain is contesting on rose symbol. Apart from this, the independent candidate SM Shafiqur Rahman Mushfiq is also in the fight for the votes.

And 177 candidates participated in the councilor post election. Two councilor candidates were elected unopposed. 5 lakh 35 thousand 529 voters are getting a chance to exercise their right to vote in the election. Voting is being conducted in 1,732 centers out of 289 centers.

There are 158 candidates in the voting field for the post of councillor. Among them, 116 general councilor candidates and 42 reserved councilor candidates. Two lakh 76 thousand 298 voters are getting a chance to vote in the election. Voting is being conducted in 894 polling booths in 126 centres.
