Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Metrorail MRT Line-6 up to Motijheel section in October. He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on the management of MRT line-6 from Agargaon to Motijheel organized by DMTCL at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Sunday (June 18) morning.
Obaidul Quader said that the City Corporation has objections to the elevated expressway in some places, such as Hatirjheel. We are thinking of keeping the Dhaka Elevated Expressway up to Tejgaon. We can solve the next part through discussion. It has challenges. But I think this challenge can be overcome. Because we all have sincerity.
The minister said about putting posters on the pillars of the Metrorail, we are getting scared as the pillars were being attacked in the beginning. We will not have this beauty. What a lack of taste in Bangladesh! The country that is the wonder of the world today, why so much poverty in the country? Even if fined here, the post should be stopped. This metro rail is the wealth of the entire nation. Everyone has to do their part to protect this national resource. Because Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will not stay in power forever.
Obaidul Quader said that the installation of hooters in protection cars should be stopped. I turned it off. I don’t drive Hooters. Cars honking in front of the hospital should be stopped. I am speaking in the presence of two mayors.
Stating that BRTA should enact a law on littering of cars on the road, he said, “The end of cigarettes from the car should be stopped on the road or anything eaten on the road should be stopped.” No garbage can be thrown out of the vehicle and no smoking is allowed anywhere. Stop smoking cigarettes in Dhaka city. Two mayors, please separate them.
Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bangladesh Ichiguchi Tamohide said, I am glad to attend this seminar. Dhaka Metro MRT is one of our most successful projects. This is a unique example of mutual trust and friendship between Bangladesh and Japan. Engineers from DMTCL will be able to visit Japan every year, and all technical support from JICA will also continue.Dhaka is my favorite city like you. It is really challenging to complete such a project in such a densely populated city like Dhaka. All kinds of cooperation of JICA in Bangladesh will continue in the future as well.
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yomaki Minowori said that MRT Line-6 from Agargaon to Motijheel is another important joint project of Bangladesh-Japan. This proves how closely Japan-Bangladesh is involved in the communication sector. It will play a major role in improving the quality of life of the people of Dhaka. Japan will continue to cooperate in the development of Bangladesh in the future and various projects will be undertaken on the basis of a win-win situation.
Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Department ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Managing Director of DMTCL MAN Siddique, Mayor of Dhaka North City Atiqul Islam, South City Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas also spoke in the seminar.
