A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held today (June 19) evening to determine the date of the moon sighting of the holy month of Zilhaj and the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
The meeting will be held at Baitul Mukarram meeting room of Islamic Foundation around 7:30 pm (after Maghrib).
Islamic Foundation Assistant Public Relations Officer Shayla Sharmin said the date of Eid-ul-Azha will be officially announced after the meeting.
The Islamic Foundation has requested that if the moon of the holy month of Zilhaj is seen anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh, it should be reported to the telephone and fax number or to the District Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the concerned district.

According to the official holiday list, three days of Eid holidays are scheduled for Eid al-Adha on June 29. However, discussions are going on to extend the Eid holiday by one day, which will be finalized in the cabinet meeting on Monday.
On the other hand, the holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on June 28.
