Another youth named Sohag (22) died of burns while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute in the incident of fire in a chemical godown in Gadarabad area of Keraniganj. Earlier, the fire service recovered the bodies of three people at the spot.
Sohag died at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute at around 12:30 on Tuesday (August 15).
The deceased Sohag Mia is the son of Hanif Mia of Gadarbagh area. Sohag’s wife Meena Akhtar and one and a half year old daughter Tayiba Akhtar died on the spot in the blast. His other daughter Tanha Akhter (4) is undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Burn Institute Emergency Department Resident Physician (RS) Md. Tariqul Islam confirmed Sohag’s death. The deceased Sohag had 75 percent burns.
The death toll in this incident has reached five till Tuesday afternoon.
The other victims are Jasmine Akhtar (32), the wife of Sohag’s elder brother, Saudi expatriate Milan Mia, and her daughter Isha Akhtar (14).
It is to be noted that on the news of a fire in a chemical godown in Gadarbagh Kalondi area of Keraniganj, 6 units worked and the fire was fully controlled around 6:30 am. Earlier, the news of the fire was received around 4 am. At that time, the bodies of two women and a child were found from the spot. Besides, one person was rescued injured.
