Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is now in Indian capital New Delhi for attending the G-20 Summit, in a letter to the Prime Minister, Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, Aziz Akhannouch, on Saturday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the casualties in the earthquake in Morocco.
In a condolence letter, she said, “We are deeply shocked to learn about the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco’s High Atlas Mountain range last night, claiming more than eight hundred precious lives and leaving hundreds more injured.”
“On behalf of the people, the Government of Bangladesh and I myself convey our deepest condolences for the loss of so many lives and the destruction of properties in this strong tremor,” she said.
“We pray for eternal peace of the departed souls. In this hour of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the bereaved families and the people of Morocco,” she continued.
Let the Almighty Allah give them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable losses and grant the speedy recovery of the injured ones, she added.
