Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Washington, D.C. Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine prompted his second trip to Washington after the full-scale invasion began.
On Thursday, in brief remarks outside the White House Cabinet, Zelensky praised his discussions in Washington as productive and strong.
Referring to the time since Russia’s invasion began in February 2022, he said, “For these 575 days, thank you. Thank you to the American people. They have been with us, with Ukrainians, with ordinary people, with all of us.”
Zelensky also mentioned the newly announced $128 million or 12.8 billion dollar military aid package declared by American President Joe Biden on Thursday. He stated, “This is what our army needs now.” He described the package as a very powerful one.
Joe Biden has employed his presidential authority to approve this assistance. He said, “Today, I’ve authorized even more than that. More artillery, more anti-tank weapons, as well as American security assistance for Ukraine’s next steps.” He further mentioned that next week, the United States will be supplying Abram tanks to Ukraine.
