US visit ‘very fruitful’: Zelenskiy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has referred to his recent trips to the United States and Canada as ‘extremely fruitful’ this week. In a video speech on Monday, Zelensky stated that Ukraine has received support and assistance from both Washington and Ottawa.

He mentioned that the United States has pledged to provide Ukraine with a defense package, which includes weapons, necessary equipment, anti-tank missiles, anti-aircraft defense systems, additional aircraft defense capabilities, vehicles, and much more, valued at over half a billion US dollars.

Governor Oleksandr Prokudin reported on Sunday that in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson, two people were killed and many were injured in a Russian airstrike. He mentioned that Russian forces launched an attack on a residential building in the city of Berislav, killing a woman and injuring three, including a police officer.

Prokudin also stated that another airstrike in the village of Luhove near the Dnipro River resulted in the death of one person, a 67-year-old. Both incidents occurred in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Kherson region, located on the western bank of the Dnieper River.

Russians regularly carry out attacks across the river in Kherson and other cities and villages.

On Sunday, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska told CBS News’ “Face the Nation” that among the 19,500 Ukrainian children taken by Russians, only 380 have been returned to Ukraine.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Ukraine’s grain ship with a Turkish flag arrived in Turkey on the second attempt. Russia had previously threatened the ship with an attack. Ukraine is currently conducting shipping inspections with control provided by NATO members Bulgaria and Romania. The flag-bearing ship is now heading towards Egypt.
