To commemorate the birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the traditional boat race of village Bengal was organized on the river Kumar at Nagarkanda in Faridpur.
On Friday (September 29) afternoon, the boating competition was held in Chandhat Bazar Kumar River of Charajshoredi Union of Upazila.
Rural fairs are held on both sides of the river around the boating festival. At the fair, the shopkeepers have arranged various types of toys and sweets. 8 small and big boats participated in it.
Shahdab Akbar Labu Chowdhury, Member of Parliament of Faridpur-2 Constituency, was present as the chief guest in the boating competition and prize distribution ceremony organized by Arifur Rahman Talukdar Pathik, former chairman of Charajshoredi Union and Awami League leader.
Also present among others were – Nagarkanda Upazila Parishad Chairman Moniruzzamar Sardar, Muksudpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Kabir Hossain Miah, Saltha Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. The winner of the boating competition was given a refrigerator to the first place team, color television to the second and third teams.
