Thousands of people are buried under the destroyed buildings in Gaza

Abu Ahmed stated, “Israel has decided to kill us all.” In the Khan Yunis area of Gaza, an elderly man sat outside his damaged home, helpless. Last Sunday night, Israeli forces launched an indiscriminate bombing campaign in this area. The residents of Gaza claim that they experienced the most brutal attack that night.

Under the wreckage of destroyed buildings in Gaza, more than a thousand men, women, and children are trapped. The situation is so delicate that injured Palestinians are being rushed to hospitals minute by minute. The hospitals in Gaza are in a dire state, struggling with shortages of electricity, water, and medical supplies. The casualties from the relentless Israeli airstrikes have overwhelmed the hospitals to the point where there is hardly any room left to admit new patients. The corridors are filled with bodies.

The United Nations reports that in northern Gaza, four hospitals have been damaged by bombs and are unable to provide medical care. On the other hand, the Israeli military has ordered the evacuation of 21 hospitals in Gaza. The World Health Organization has revealed that in the last 10 days, more than 110 health centers in Gaza have been targeted in the attacks.

On Monday, at Nasir Hospital in Khan Yunis, a continuous stream of ambulances brought in injured Palestinians. Many of them were children. Medical staff, faced with a shortage of supplies, are grappling with the dilemma of who to treat and who to turn away.

Israeli airstrikes continue to wreak havoc in Gaza, with numerous civilian buildings reduced to rubble. The number of casualties is rising. Palestinian authorities report that since October 7, Israeli attacks have claimed the lives of 2,808 people in the region. Of the deceased, 64 percent are women and children. Additionally, 57 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the western part of Gaza.

Israel has intensified its preparations for a ground offensive in the border areas of northern Gaza. The directive is for the residents of northern Gaza to head south. Israel claims that following this directive, more than half a million Gazans have left their homes. The United Nations reports that Israel has taken over more than 400,000 Palestinian shelters and schools in Gaza.

In such a vulnerable situation, various countries and organizations, including Turkey, Egypt, and the United Nations, are making concerted efforts to provide humanitarian aid. A convoy of relief trucks is waiting to enter Gaza through the Rafah Crossing in Egypt. Additionally, hundreds of foreign passport holders are stranded in the crossing, waiting to leave Gaza.

On Monday, Egyptian security forces reported that the Rafah Crossing will be temporarily opened to allow the passage of humanitarian supplies and those stranded in Gaza. Israel has agreed to keep the attacks on hold in the area for a limited time to facilitate this. However, no decision has been made regarding a complete cessation of the attacks, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Hamas has also reacted cautiously to the proposal. In the meantime, Israeli forces launched an attack near the Rafah Crossing on Monday night.
