The UN General Assembly is Holding an Emergency Meeting on the Gaza Situation in Palestine

A special emergency meeting has been called at the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the dire situation in Gaza. This meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 26th, and has been requested by several countries, including Jordan and Mauritania.

On Tuesday, the President of the UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis, stated in a tweet that when the Security Council fails to take necessary action in any crisis situation, the General Assembly must step in.

The 15-member Security Council is making a new attempt to pass a resolution on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Previously, a ceasefire resolution was vetoed in the Security Council due to the opposition of a permanent member, the United States. This has led to the convening an emergency meeting of the 193-member General Assembly.
