The first journey of the train started from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar in Chittagong. However, this is not a trial run; it primarily involves inspecting the construction work of this railway line to check for any defects. The team of inspectors is supervising this for the first time.
On Sunday, November 5, at 8 a.m., the train departs from Chittagong station with eight carriages on its way to Cox’s Bazar. Inspection officials from the Inspection Directorate of the Ministry are on board. During this journey, they will inspect the under-construction Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway line and various stations.
The Project Director of the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar Railway Line Project, Mr. Suboktogin, said, “The Bangladesh Railway Inspection Team will inspect this railway line. The train is leaving Chittagong for Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.”
The team will visit various locations along this railway line and gradually proceed towards Cox’s Bazar. They will also inspect the newly built bridges on the railway line. Primarily, it is not a trial run. The government’s Inspector of Bangladesh Railway will inspect this railway line. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry. It is outside the purview of Bangladesh Railway but under the authority of the Ministry.
Mr. Mofizur Rahman, the Additional Director General (Administration) of Bangladesh Railway, said, “No trial run is taking place on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar railway line. The government’s Inspector of Bangladesh Railway will inspect this railway line. This is a department within the Ministry. It is outside Bangladesh Railway but under the authority of the Ministry.
“This is not a trial run for the engine or train; this is about confirming whether the railway line is in good condition and whether the train can operate. They will verify that. They will also check how fast the train can travel. When the Prime Minister inaugurates this railway line, this is done to inform her about the overall situation before that.”
