According to travel plans, the Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with the President of the country before announcing the details of the national parliamentary elections. In a continuous series, the EC is scheduled to have a meeting with the President on Thursday (November 9). Discussions will take place on various aspects of the election, including the details of the voting process.
The meeting will take place at noon on Thursday (November 9) at the Bangabhaban. The entire Election Commission, led by Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal, will be present at this meeting. During this session, they will inform the President about the agreed-upon date for announcing the details of the election, which is expected to be either on the 14th or 15th of November. Subsequently, the election is anticipated to be held in the last week of December or the first week of January. The Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has already met with the Commission on November 1. If approved by the President, the EC will make a public announcement regarding the details of the twelfth national parliamentary election. The EC is also preparing a speech for this occasion.
Secretary Jahangir Alam of the EC has stated that they will keep the President informed about all kinds of progress related to election preparation. If there are any suggestions or directives from the President, the Commission will consider them. It has been ensured that the United States, the EU, and the Commonwealth will observe the twelfth national parliamentary election in Bangladesh. Secretary Jahangir Alam has informed that foreign observers can register until November 21. Additionally, those who apply afterward will be considered for permission through scrutiny.
Despite the current political instability, the EC officials have assured that they are not concerned about the election. All preparations are being made to maintain law and order during the election and to ensure that voters can cast their votes without hindrance, as mentioned by the EC Secretary.
