We will Develop Ourselves as Smart Citizens for a Smart Bangladesh: IGP

Dhaka: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has stated that gradually, we will all be accustomed to smart car parking. As smart citizens of Smart Bangladesh, we will contribute to building a smart nation ourselves.

He made these remarks at the inauguration ceremony of ‘Smart On-Street Parking,’ organized at the Nagar Bhaban of DNCC in Gulshan, Dhaka on Wednesday (November 8).

He said, that when we conduct various activities smartly, that’s when we can build a Smart Bangladesh as smart citizens of our own country. With the initiative of the residents of the Gulshan area, NSC has been established. After the establishment of NSC, the trend of crime has decreased, resulting in a notable positive change. This has enabled us to unveil the mysteries of various criminal incidents and bring criminals under the purview of the law.

He mentioned that after visiting various places abroad, he observed car parking systems and a similar car parking arrangement has been made by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). We have implemented a smart car parking system at our Police Headquarters. In the control room in Ramna, we have arranged for car parking. We are making the utmost effort to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka city and bring vehicles under the umbrella of the law.

Present at the event were Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Mayor Atiqul Islam of Dhaka North City Corporation, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Habibur Rahman, Mohammad Ali Arafat, Member of Parliament for Dhaka-17, and Mostafizur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, among others.
