Worker Association Wants a Minimum Wage of 25,000 Taka

Dhaka: A demand for an increase in wages for garment workers, led by the Central President of the Workers’ Council, Muhammad Abdul Karim, has been announced. A petition for the provision of grievances and reconsideration of wages was submitted on Friday (November 24) at twelve noon to the Chairman of the Minimum Wage Board, Liakat Ali Mollah. At the time of filing the petition, the Chairman of the Minimum Wage Board assured that he would carefully review the demands and submit them to the relevant authorities.

Present at the time of submitting the petition were also the Central Vice-President of the Workers’ Council, Alhaj Amir Ali Haoladar, Alhaj Siddiqur Rahman, Maulana Shamsul Islam, Central Advisor, and former Central Vice-President Haji Nur Hossen. Additionally, Central Joint General Editor H.M. Rashad, Central Office and Publicity Editor Maulana Khaled Sanoar, Central Executive Member Engineer Sheikh Matiur Rahman, M. Ibrahim Khalil, and Deputy Editor of Dhaka Metropolis North, Riazul Islam.
