Tribute by President and Prime Minister at Memorial on Victory Day

On the occasion of Victory Day, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid their respects to the nation’s greatest sons at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.

On Saturday at 6:34 AM, they expressed their homage with flowers. President Sahabuddin first laid a wreath at the monument, followed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At this time, both the President and Prime Minister stood in silence for a moment in remembrance of the martyrs of the Liberation War. A well-prepared contingent of the Army, Navy, and Air Force then saluted the national anthem.

During the laying of wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Memorial by the President and Prime Minister, Speaker of the National Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, Liberation War Affairs Minister A. K. M. Mozammel Haque, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, the GOC of the 9th Division, Commissioner of Dhaka Division, and the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka District were present.

Afterwards, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan paid their respects.

Following that, the Awami League leaders, including Sheikh Hasina, expressed tribute to the martyrs on behalf of the party. At this time, top leaders of the party, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, were present. Subsequently, the families of the martyrs, war-wounded freedom fighters, and heroic freedom fighters laid wreaths. Later, the National Memorial was opened for the general public to pay their respects.
