National mourning in Bangladesh today for the death of the Emir of Kuwait

Bangladesh will observe a day of national mourning on Monday following the death of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait. This information was disclosed in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday.

The press release stated that on Monday (December 18), the national flag of Bangladesh will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions, as well as all government and private buildings and Bangladesh missions abroad.

Special prayers for the forgiveness of the soul of the Amir of Kuwait will be held in all mosques across Bangladesh on that day. Additionally, special prayers for his eternal peace will be organized in other religious institutions. The government has declared a three-day public holiday in the country for this occasion.

The late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had declared a 40-day national mourning period in Kuwait. Furthermore, three days of official mourning have been announced in the country. On Saturday (December 16), Sheikh Nawaf passed away at the age of 86. Following his death, his younger brother, Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, was announced as the new Amir. Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, aged 83, previously served as the Crown Prince of the country.
