All primary and secondary schools in Pabna are closed

Pabna recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius today on Monday due to severe cold current.

As the temperature has dropped below 10 degrees, the education department has announced closure of all primary schools in the district today.

This information was informed in a press release signed by Pabna District Primary Education Officer Siddique Mohammad Yusuf Raja on Sunday (January 21) night.

It said, ‘According to the forecast of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, as the temperature of Ishwardi, Pabna is likely to be below 10 degrees Celsius, in consultation with the Departmental Deputy Director, Primary Education, Rajshahi Division, Rajshahi, on January 22, academic activities of all government primary schools in Pabna district will be suspended for 01 (one) day. Closed for Upazila Education Officers have been requested to take necessary action in this regard. ‘

Earlier on January 16, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and the Directorate of Primary Education said in a directive that primary schools will be closed like schools and colleges in case of severe cold. If the maximum temperature in a district drops below 10 degrees, primary schools will be closed in that district.

It should be noted that according to the information provided by the Ishwardi Meteorological Office in Pabna, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.2 degrees Celsius in Ishwardi today on Monday. Earlier on Sunday (January 21), the lowest temperature was recorded at Ishwardi in Pabna at 9.5 degrees. 10.2 degrees was recorded the previous day.

However, students and parents were seen in front of each school in the morning after announcing the closure of schools late at night.

Students and parents said that they did not know the closure of the school due to the announcement at night. So they had to come to school in severe cold.

They suggested that morning school hours should be changed to afternoon to protect children from extreme cold.

Besides, they think that children will be able to come to school if the school activities are conducted by reducing the classes.
