National pride and recognition for outstanding contributions, 10 distinguished individuals are receiving the Independence Award for the year 2024.
On Friday, a notice was issued by the Cabinet Division announcing the list of nominees for the Independence Award.
This time, three individuals from the fields of independence and liberation war, one from science and technology, one from medical science, one from culture, one from sports, and three from social service are receiving the highest national honor.
In the field of independence and liberation war, the Independence Award is being conferred upon Kazi Abdus Sattar, Bir Protik Flight Sergeant Mo. Fazlul Haque (posthumous), and Bir Protik Shaheed Abu Naeem Mo. Najib Uddin Khan (Khorram) (posthumous).
In the science and technology category, Dr. Mobarak Ahmed Khan and in medical science, Dr. Harishankar Dash have been nominated for the Independence Award.
In culture, Mohammad Rafiquzzaman and in sports, Firoza Khatun are receiving the award.
In the field of social service, the award is being given to Arannya Chiran, Bir Protik Professor Dr. Molla Obaidullah Baki, and S.M. Abraham Lincoln.
Since the Great Independence Day of 1977, the government has been awarding this honor every year. In the category of Independence Award, the recipient receives a gold medal weighing fifty grams of eighteen carats, a replica of the medal, five lakh taka, and a certificate of honor.
