Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized serving the people to ensure future votes: Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has referred to serving the people as a major task and urged elected representatives to serve the people, stating that it will ensure their future votes.
She said, “You are elected by the people. If you can ensure the service of the people, there will be no concern about your future votes. People will trust and believe in you.”
The Prime Minister made these remarks at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected mayors of Comilla and Mymensingh city corporations and chairmen of five district councils held at her Tejgaon office in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
Directing local government representatives to work with utmost sincerity for the welfare of the people, she said, “The trust and confidence of the people must not be lost in any way. So, work for the people according to their expectations.”
She emphasized that her government has developed every area of ​​the country and that the ongoing development work is being carried out with the people of the Awami League in mind, ensuring the protection of the promises made to them and maintaining the current trend of development.
“The goal of the government is to provide advanced services to the people, improve the quality of life, and build planned cities,” she said, adding that they have already announced ‘My Village, My City’. Meaning that the people of the village will get all the facilities. She mentioned that by 2026, Bangladesh will be a developed country.
“I urge you to stand by the people with sincerity, serve them, and maintain the current trend of economic and social development,” she said, addressing elected representatives at the event.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also instructed elected representatives to remain vigilant against corruption, drugs, and terrorism, saying, “Everyone should stay away from the path of corruption, drugs, and terrorism, and keep an eye on them.”
The swearing-in ceremony also saw the swearing-in of the newly elected chairpersons of the Kushtia, Thakurgaon, Sirajganj, Brahmanbaria, and Habiganj district councils.
The chairpersons of the five district councils are: A K M Obaidur Rahman of Kushtia-6, Abdul Majid of Thakurgaon, Shamim Talukdar of Sirajganj, Billal Mia of Brahmanbaria, and Aliya Akhtar of Habiganj.
Later, the oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Muhammad Ibrahim, Secretary of the Local Government Division. On March 9, the daughter of Comilla-6 constituency MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar, Tahsin Bahar, who won the by-election of the city corporation, was sworn in as the first elected female mayor of Comilla. On the same day, Ekramul Haque Titu was elected mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation at the held election.
