Over the past few days, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been experiencing storms, heavy rainfall, and flooding, disrupting normal life. Due to record rainfall in Dubai, nine flights on the Dhaka to Dubai and Sharjah routes have been canceled.
Emirates airline has announced that due to the hazardous weather conditions in Dubai, check-in for all their flights has been suspended. Cars have been seen stranded on roads due to flooding. Dubai’s largest shopping mall, Dubai Mall, and Mall of the Emirates have suffered significant damage due to the flooding. A metro station is submerged in water.
On April 17th, Wednesday, NDTV reported that Dubai has experienced the highest rainfall in 75 years. Dubai International Airport has stated that their flight schedule has been significantly disrupted due to heavy rainfall. Numerous flights have been diverted to different countries or delayed.
A spokesperson at Dubai International Airport said that flights are delayed due to water accumulation, and incoming flights to the airport are unable to land. We are making every effort to start airport operations as quickly as possible in these difficult circumstances.
