Now the Challenge is to Control Inflation: Prime Minister

Prime Minister and President of the Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, has stated that the major challenge now is to control inflation, emphasizing that this year’s budget prioritizes inflation control.

She made these remarks in her introductory speech at the Awami League Advisory Council meeting held at Ganabhaban on Friday evening, June 7.

Sheikh Hasina mentioned, “While preparing this year’s budget, we aimed to ensure it was not excessively large but focused on sustaining the country’s development. The budget has been designed with that goal in mind.”

She added, “Special attention has been given to essential commodities, healthcare, and education sectors in the budget to prevent inflationary pressures. Our main challenge now is to control inflation.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted, “Today’s Bangladesh is a transformed Bangladesh. There is no doubt that Bangladesh has changed, and the socio-economic condition of its people has improved.”

Sheikh Hasina noted, “When we formed the government in 2009, the inflation rate was around 12.3 percent, and reserves were not even 1 billion. From there, we have managed to elevate the economy significantly.”7
