Joe Biden has proposed reforms to the Supreme Court

U.S. President Joe Biden has unveiled a proposal for Supreme Court reforms. He wants Congress to set term limits for justices and establish new ethical guidelines for them.

According to Al Jazeera.

On Monday, Biden outlined his plans for the conservative-led Supreme Court. He stated that these measures are necessary to restore trust and accountability in the court and our democracy.

Biden’s reform plan must be passed by Congress. The proposal includes setting a term limit of 18 years for Supreme Court justices and establishing strict ethical rules for them.

Biden is also pushing for a constitutional amendment. This amendment would weaken the recent Supreme Court ruling that supported Donald Trump’s claims about presidential immunity.

In an op-ed for The Washington Post, Biden wrote, “This country is built on a simple but profound principle: no one is above the law. Not even the President of the United States.”

He added, “We must prevent the abuse of presidential power. We must, and we can, restore public trust in the Supreme Court.”
