Educational institutions will be opened in phases: Education Minister

Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury has stated that they wish to open various educational institutions across the country in phases.

On Tuesday (July 30) at around 7 PM, after a meeting with seven ministers, four secretaries, and top officials from the law enforcement agencies at the Ministry of Home Affairs, he shared this information with journalists.

Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said, “We have previously stated that no innocent students and those who have participated peacefully in this movement should be subjected to administrative harassment or legal complications. If any student or their guardian believes they are innocent, they can certainly contact us. We will provide all kinds of direct assistance.”

He added, “In our meeting today, the Inspector General of Police also mentioned that they are taking immediate action on complaints about students, provided they are innocent. However, we repeatedly advise guardians to provide accurate information in coordination with the law enforcement agencies where their questioning is taking place.”

The Minister further noted, “Regarding the opening of educational institutions, we keep emphasizing that public safety is the priority. Considering public safety, we wish to open educational institutions in phases after discussing with all relevant authorities. Schools for primary and secondary education will also be determined based on safety risk assessments. Currently, we are assessing safety risks daily and will provide updates in due course.”

In response to a question about the start of online classes, he said, “Since the internet has been restored, we will consider this matter. We have already discussed it with the universities. Some private universities are assessing the feasibility of this. We will inform accordingly in due time. We will also announce the schedule for the HSC exams at the appropriate time.”
