Dr. Muhammad Yunus offered condolences to Abu Saeed’s father.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, visited the home of Abu Saeed, who was killed during the quota reform movement, to offer his condolences to his parents. On Saturday (August 10), he arrived at Abu Saeed’s home in Rangpur at around 11 AM.

Prior to this, Dr. Yunus had traveled from Dhaka to Rangpur by helicopter.

Upon reaching Abu Saeed’s residence, Dr. Yunus visited his grave. During the prayer, supplications were made for the forgiveness of the souls of all those who died in the anti-discrimination student movement. Dr. Yunus was accompanied by several coordinators of the quota movement during this visit.

After visiting the grave, Dr. Yunus went inside Abu Saeed’s home and spent about half an hour in the courtyard, speaking with Abu Saeed’s parents and family members. During this time, Abu Saeed’s mother spoke about the loss of her son.

Dr. Yunus offered words of comfort to Abu Saeed’s family.

Later, Dr. Yunus, along with Abu Saeed’s parents, family members, and two coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, Advisors Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, displayed the national flag.

Present at the time were leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement, including Akhtar Hossain and Sarjis Alam, among other coordinators.

Following this visit, Dr. Yunus is scheduled to visit the Rangpur Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital and Begum Rokeya University (BRU) to see the injured from the anti-discrimination student movement. He will also inspect the location where Abu Saeed was shot.

Abu Saeed was the son of Moksud Hossain from Babunpur village in the Madankhali Union of Pirganj Upazila, Rangpur, and was the youngest among his nine siblings.

On July 16, around 2:30 PM, a clash occurred between the police and students demanding quota reform on the road in front of BRU. During the clash, Abu Saeed, a student of the 12th batch of the English Department at BRU and a key coordinator of the anti-discrimination quota movement, was shot and killed.
