Adviser’s speech after taking oath
Nahid Islam, the coordinator and adviser of the anti-discrimination student movement, spoke to the media after taking the oath of the interim government at Bangabhaban on August 8.
“If the people think that the youth will take the reins of the state, then the youth are ready to respond to the call of the people,” he said.
The next day at noon Sarjis Alam, one of the coordinators of the movement, made a post on the social media Facebook about being the adviser of Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud.
There he wrote, “They should refrain from participating in the next election due to being in the interim government.”
Since then, the issue of forming a new political party under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement has been discussed.
In response to the question, ‘Will coordinators be seen in the field of politics this time?’, coordinator Sarjis Alam told BBC Bangla, “People want to see a different political party led by young people, who will build a beautiful society in Bangladesh honestly and fairly. From the place of the people of Bangladesh, we feel that we can go to a political thought at the national level.”
He said that the first thought about forming a party came after the fall of the government. However, the coordinator could not give any details about when, how and in what structure the party will be formed or who will be the leader of the party as the whole matter is still under discussion.
