Inter-city train services are starting from today (Thursday) across the country. Bangladesh Railway has already completed all preparations.
Freight train movement started on Monday. Passenger mail, express, local and commuter trains are running for the next two days.
In a letter signed by Assistant Chief Operating Officer (ACOPS) of Railways Eastern Zone Kamal Akhtar Hossain, it is known that the agitation took place from July 19 to August 5 in the inter-city train coach burning, coach door and window panes broken.
Windows of six coaches of Jamalpur Express, 58 windows and 18 doors of 13 coaches of Jayantika Express and 141 windows and 27 doors of 16 coaches of Parabat Express were broken.
The letter says that currently they are in Akhaura and Mymensingh. Damaged coaches have to be sent to base stations and hill sheds for repair, which is time-consuming. Jamalpur Express train runs on Dhaka-Jamalpur-Bhuyapur-Dhaka route and Parabat Express runs on Dhaka-Sylhet-Dhaka route.
After almost a month of shutdown, intercity trains are starting.
