18 dead in floods: Ministry of Disasters

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has said that 18 people have died so far due to flash floods in the districts of North-Eastern region including Feni and Noakhali.

The secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief said this information in the briefing organized in the meeting room of the ministry on Saturday (August 24) at 12 noon. Kamrul Hasan.

He said the number of deaths till yesterday was 13. 18 people have died so far today. Among them, four people died in Comilla, one in Feni, three in Noakhali, five in Chittagong, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Laxmipur and three in Cox’s Bazar.

The secretary said that we have opened 3,527 shelters in the affected areas. Two lakh 84 thousand 888 people have taken shelter in the shelters. And I have brought 21 thousand 695 cattle to the shelter.

Regarding the relief assistance, he said that 3 crore 52 lakh cash, 20 thousand 150 metric tons of rice, 15 thousand packets of dry food, 35 lakh taka for baby food and 35 lakh taka for cow food have been sent to 11 flood affected districts.

The secretary said that coordinators of anti-discrimination student movement, local public, army and navy forces, fire service and other organizations are working together in the affected districts. Advisor of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief is staying in the affected areas and supervising.
