23 vent regulators of Muchapur closure in Companyganj upazila of Noakhali were broken due to heavy rains and upstream flows. This has spread panic in Noakhali’s Companiganj, Kabirhat and Feni’s Sonagazi and Daganbhuyan areas.
He said that due to the high pressure of the water, the water valve broke when the regulator gave way. Flood water recedes during low tide but water can now enter the locality during high tide. The matter is being worked with the engineering team of the army.
Munshi Amir Faisal, Executive Engineer of Water Development Board Noakhali said, I have come to know the matter. In fact, a lot of water came down through the 23 gates of the regulator. If the gates had not been opened earlier, they would have been broken earlier. We have reported the matter to the higher authorities.
