The announcement of the outline of reforms is coming soon

Interim government chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will soon announce the final outline of the reforms after discussions with the political parties. This outline will include the reform action plan and the means of devolution.

Quoting the chief adviser, Mahfuz Alam said, “During the discussion, Dr. Yunus expressed optimism that he will soon be able to present the outline of state reforms for the future of Bangladesh based on the opinions of all political and platforms.

The Chief Adviser said that he will undertake long-term reforms for the Bangladesh state based on the aspirations of the students and the people’s opinion. Through which a greater national unity will be created.

In response to a question from journalists, Mahfuz Alam said that power will be handed over to the people. The people will elect their representatives. But right now the priority is to reform. Reform must be done first. How long the term of the government will be will be determined from within the reform proposal. The transfer of power will come at the end of the term mainly based on the recommendations and proposals for reforms. We hope this will be a comprehensive outline.

In response to the question whether the outline is reform or transfer of power, he said, ‘It will have everything. The Chief Adviser will basically outline the reforms. Reforms include when and how power will be transferred.’

Special Assistant Mahfuz said, “We got the responsibility through the popular uprising of the people. Here it is repeatedly said to repair the state. Through the proposal, the political parties will tell how much time they will give the government to repair the state. Then comes the question of transfer of power. The reforms will include devolution of power.

Citing the chief adviser, press secretary Shafiqul Alam said, ‘Dr. Yunus told the political parties that now is a golden opportunity for the nation to repair the state. This opportunity should be used appropriately. We all have to work together, so that we can make long-term reforms and the people of Bangladesh can enjoy the benefits.’

Shafiqul Alam also said that the chief adviser asked the political leaders to amend the existing constitution or to re-draft the constitution.

The press secretary said that many leaders have proposed that the same person cannot be the head of government for more than two terms. Apart from this, many people wanted to separate the judiciary and withdraw political cases.

The Hefajat Islam leaders have demanded a re-investigation of Hefajat Islam workers who were killed during the Sheikh Hasina government’s tenure, including the Shapla Chatter Hefazat movement and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh, which must be done transparently.

Apart from this, the leaders of various parties put forward several proposals including the radical reform of the education policy and the formation of a representative government.

Shafiqul Alam said, the leaders participating in the discussion expressed confidence in the leadership of the chief advisor and everyone is hopeful that Dr. You will see a radical reform under the leadership of Yunus.

Mahfuz Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, said that the political leaders have informed the Chief Adviser about the existing political and institutional crises. He assured that the government will solve these problems quickly with various initiatives.
