The government has given special executive magistrate powers to the army across the country including the capital. Commissioned officers of the army will be in this capacity for the next two months.
Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, has explained the government’s position regarding the powers of special executive magistrates given to army officers.
He said, we have noticed that some activities like vandalism, anarchy and destroying the stability of the country are happening in some areas of the country, especially in the industrial areas.

On Tuesday (September 17) through a notification of the Public Administration Ministry, a commissioned officer of the Bangladesh Army was given the power of executive magistrate for 60 days.
According to the notification, the powers of the Executive Magistrate are delegated under Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133, 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. done
When an offense is committed in the presence of military officers holding the charge of Executive Magistrates, they can arrest or order the arrest of the offender. Apart from this, army officials can take action against criminals under various sections of criminal offenses for the next two months.
