Donald Trump was sure of his victory even two months ago. So sure was he that he started talking about landslide victories. That, of course, was before Joe Biden withdrew from the election. The situation has changed since Kamala Harris succeeded Biden as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate. Not only has he narrowed his previous gap with Trump, he has also moved ahead in most opinion polls. Trump cannot accept this at all. Unable to figure out how to stop Kamala, he is now acting a bit paranoid.
Let me talk about public opinion first. According to the latest Reuters national opinion poll, Kamala Harris leads Trump by four points nationwide (45 to 41 percent). Kamala has surpassed Trump in various important ‘battle ground’ states, reducing the previous deficit. Orange leads in three of the four states known as the ‘Sun Belt’ in the latest poll released by Trump-supporting Fox News.
Trump is furious with the poll by his loyalist Fox News. According to his campaign camp, this survey is not true at all. Trump is not only ahead of Kamala, he has increased his support more than ever. A Democrat commentator commented that Trump is actually suffering from confusion. He has lost the ability to understand the difference between black and white.
Although sarcastically speaking, Trump’s current behavior is clear that he is somewhat disoriented. Saying things that his own supporters are embarrassed about. Especially Kamla’s election meetings are getting huge crowds, he can’t accept it at all. Claimed without any evidence, Jansabha images are not real, AI (artificial intelligence) generated. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered to see Kamala at the Detroit airport, we all saw that picture on TV. Trump’s statement that nothing happened is a lie.
Without any reason comparing it to his own rallies, Trump said that his meetings have more people than ever before in the history of America. His 2017 debut drew so many people that it surpassed Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in 1963. It is good to say that more than 250,000 people attended that historic meeting of Martin Luther King. On the other hand, as an official, Trump’s inauguration was attended by over 20,000 people.
After listening to these talks, Trump’s mental balance has been questioned. Most recently, he claimed, he had a narrow escape while on a helicopter ride with San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown a few years ago. The story is quite funny, he survived the assailant’s bullet a few days ago. But the problem is, that is not true at all. When Willie Brown was asked this, he almost choked with laughter. ‘He’s a total liar,’ said Brown.
Referring to that, the Los Angeles Times wrote that the man actually suffers from mental illness. Public radio NPR reported that Trump told a total of 162 lies during the news conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. According to the Washington Post’s count of lies told by Trump in the last four years, the total number has already exceeded 30,000.
Last week, special counsel Jack Smith filed a new case against Trump over the Jan. 6 riots and the destruction of government documents at Mar-a-Lago. Trump was so enraged that he posted 27 messages in half an hour in the middle of the night on his own website ‘Truth Social’. In it, he paid homage to Jack Smith and accused Biden’s Justice Department of a deep conspiracy against him. Trump also alleged that Biden is plotting to kill him. However, he did not see the need to submit any evidence for this statement.
Trump continued his vile attacks against Kamala on Truth Social. Most recently, he retweeted a post by someone else that suggested Kamala and Hillary Clinton had sex. Earlier in another post, he made similar nasty comments about Kamala and Willie Brown.
The fact that the matter is not normal did not escape the attention of the journalists. David Urban, Trump’s adviser, told CNN that he has told Trump many times that he should instead talk about pressing issues like immigration and the economy. That is what is needed now. But his words did not work.
Kamala Harris and her campaign seem to be enjoying it. The more dirty things Trump says against this black woman, the lower his support among women voters will be. A few days ago, Trump mocked the color of oranges. ‘I knew him to be Indian, now suddenly he is black,’ Trump’s accusation is false, Kamala has always identified himself as black and South Asian at the same time. When asked about this in an interview with CNN last week, Kamala said with a soft smile, ‘These are old political games. Drop this question, say something else.’
