In the address to the nation, the chief adviser. Muhammad Yunus said, they want reforms. He wants to start a new journey as a nation through reforms. It has been decided to form six commissions as an initial step to reform. Six eminent citizens have been entrusted with the task of managing the commissions, considering the subject matter experience to conduct the work of these commissions.
The chief adviser addressed the nation on Wednesday evening. In his speech, he said that Badiul Alam Majumdar will serve as the head of Electoral System Reform Commission, Safar Raj Hossain will serve as the head of Police Administration Reform Commission, Justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman will serve as the head of the Judicial Reform Commission, and Justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman will serve as the head of the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission. Iftekharuzzaman will serve, Abdul Mueed Chowdhury will serve as the head of the Public Administration Reform Commission, Shahdeen Malik will serve as the head of the Constitution Reform Commission.
The chief adviser said that the names of other members of these commissions will be decided after discussion with the heads of the commissions. Advisory council members, representatives of student-labour-mass movement, representatives of civil society and political parties will be present in the discussion and consultation meeting of the commissions.
The chief adviser expressed hope that the commission will be able to officially start working from October 1 after being fully formed. He said it is expected to be completed within the next three months. Based on the report of the commission, the government will organize a consultation meeting with the major political parties in the next phase. At the final stage, the outline of reform ideas will be finalized on the basis of a three-to-seven-day-wide consultation meeting involving student society, civil society, political party representatives, and government representatives. It will also give an idea of how this outline will be implemented.
